„The music of my life“ guest Mike Russell

Am 16. Oktober 2022 fand im Konzertsaal der Karol Lipiński Musikakademie in Wrocław ein Konzert mit dem Titel. „The Music Of My Life“, das eine Zusammenfassung des 50-jährigen Jubiläums des künstlerischen Schaffens von Zbigniew „Levandek“ Lewandowski ist – einem Künstler, dessen Karriere mit Wrocław und seinem künstlerischen Umfeld verbunden ist.

Das Jubiläumskonzert wurde von Zbigniew Lewandowski & Bartosz Pernal Orchestra und herausragenden Solisten aus der polnischen und amerikanischen Jazzszene bestritten, die in der Vergangenheit mit seinen Bands zusammengearbeitet haben, darunter: Ewa Uryga, Natalia Lubrano, Mike Russell (USA), Mfa Kera (Madagaskar), Kenny Carr (USA), Piotr Wojtasik, Piotr Baron, Kuba Stankiewicz, Jose Antonio Torres, Wojtek Pilichowski, Jerzy Kaczmarek, Jakub Olejnik, Mieczysław Jurecki, Patrycjusz Gruszecki, Zbigniew „Jaco“ Jakubek und Kajetan Galas.

Der Titel „let the good time role“ wurde mit dem Gast Mike Russell aufgezeichnet und jetzt als kleiner clip verarbeitet. Mike Russell ist stolz darauf, dass er mit Zbigniew Lewandowski & Bartosz Pernal Orchestra auftreten konnte und bezeugt immer wieder seinen Respekt.

On October 16, 2022, in the Concert Hall of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, a concert entitled. „The Music Of My Life“, which is a summary of the 50th anniversary of the artistic work of Zbigniew „Levandek“ Lewandowski – an artist whose career is connected with Wrocław and its artistic environment.

The anniversary concert featured Zbigniew Lewandowski & Bartosz Pernal Orchestra and outstanding soloists from the Polish and American jazz scene who have collaborated with his bands in the past, including: Ewa Uryga, Natalia Lubrano, Mike Russell (USA), Mfa Kera (Madagascar), Kenny Carr (USA), Piotr Wojtasik, Piotr Baron, Kuba Stankiewicz, Jose Antonio Torres, Wojtek Pilichowski, Jerzy Kaczmarek, Jakub Olejnik, Mieczysław Jurecki, Patrycjusz Gruszecki, Zbigniew „Jaco“ Jakubek and Kajetan Galas.

The track „let the good time role“ was recorded with guest Mike Russell and now processed as a small clip. Mike Russell is proud that he could perform with Zbigniew Lewandowski & Bartosz Pernal Orchestra and always testifies his respect.

„Ein Geschenk für die Welt“ nennt Mike Russell das kulturelle Erbe der Vorfahren der Afroamerikaner, die aus den work songs, den Spirituals, dem Blues und daraus abgeleitet alle Kunstformen des Jazz, R&B, Rock, Soul und Funk bis Hiphop entwickelten.

Mike Russell gibt durch seine Auftritte das „gute Gefühl“ weiter. Und wenn seine Musik ankommt, ist es „das netteste Kompliment“.

„A gift to the world“ is what Mike Russell calls the cultural heritage of the ancestors of African Americans, who developed from the work songs, spirituals, blues and derived from them all the art forms of jazz, R&B, rock, soul and funk to hip-hop.

Mike Russell passes on the „good feeling“ through his performances. And when his music is received, it is „the nicest compliment“.

Carly Quiroz ist eingesprungen für Lionel Haas beim letzten Konzert und war einfach fabelhaft. Es gab keine Probe vorher, Carly spielte aus seiner Erinnerung von 2019 und er motivierte die ganze Band ihr Bestes zu geben.

Und alles passte perfekt und Mike Russell’s Funky Soul Kitchen gingen ab wie eine Dampfmaschine. Mit dem Ergebnis, dass einige Gästen im luxuriösen Orania.Hotel die contenance verloren, aufsprangen und „one more, one more“ riefen.

Nächstes Orania.Concert ist am 13.04.2023 wieder in der üblichen Zusammenstellung: Mike Russell guit/voc, Sir Charles Williamson bass, DiCarlo drums und Lionel Haas key/piano.

Carly Quiroz filled in for Lionel Haas at the last concert and was just fabulous. There was no rehearsal before, Carly played from his memory of 2019 and he motivated the whole band to do their best.

And everything fit perfectly and Mike Russell’s Funky Soul Kitchen went off like a steam engine. With the result that some guests in the luxurious Orania Hotel lost their composure, jumped up and shouted „one more, one more“.

Next Orania.Concert is on 13.04.2023 again in the usual lineup: Mike Russell guit/voc, Sir Charles Williamson bass, DiCarlo drums and Lionel Haas key/piano.

Vergessen Sie nie die Wurzeln der Schwarzen Musik. Blues/R&B,Jazz/Soul und alle daraus hervorgehenden Musikrichtungen basieren auf schwarzen Künstlern. Die Musikindustrie hat früh dafür gesorgt, dass die meisten Wurzeln des schwarzen Erbes unsichtbar blieben. MFA Kera beantwortet die Frage „Was ist Jazz“ mit „ich weiß eins – Mama Afrika hat viele Kinder.“

Neue Interpretationen originaler Funk/Soul Songs gestern im Badenscher Hof von Mike Russell’s Funky Soul Kitchen, die nicht so oft gespielt werden, kamen gut an und die Zuhörer waren begeistert und groovten mit.

Es ist einfach so, dass man die Atmosphäre nicht einfangen kann, man muss es live erleben. Alles ist wechselseitig und Künstler und Publikum steigern sich gegenseitig. Und am Ende verlassen alle den Club mit einem Lächeln.

New interpretations of original funk/soul songs yesterday at Badenscher Hof by Mike Russell’s Funky Soul Kitchen, which are not played that often, went over well and the audience was excited and grooved along.
